Today, British Columbia replenishes its population by inviting tech professionals and other active and talented personnel from around the world through the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP). On September 10, 2024, the province did a general invite to those with skills in technology, healthcare, childcare, construction, and veterinary, among others. This latest round shows the plan of British Columbia to facilitate how key shortages in the labor market can be addressed and to improve the economic situation in the province for skilled applicants.

  • Tech Draw: Most of the invitations were issued to tech workers, of which 84 people benefited from ITAs. Skills required include a minimum of 117 points which indicates that despite the growth and significant investment in the technology sector in the province.

  • Childcare Targeted Draw: Understanding the importance of early childhood educators to the development of children the province issued 30 ITAs to persons under the National Occupational Classification (NOC 42202). In addition to this, it is expected that this move will enhance support to families and communities by increasing access to quality childcare services.

  • Healthcare Targeted Draw: Trying to advance healthcare services, 18 applicants with jobs in healthcare fields were enrolled, starting from a total of 99 points. This targeted approach allows the institutions to meet society’s need for qualified healthcare personnel in British Columbia.

  • Construction Sector: The province also addressed certain complexity of the construction industry by calling 19 competent contenders. This sector is crucial in the development of infrastructure for the growth of urban centers, therefore, is a strategic interest of the BC PNP.

  • Veterinary Care Occupations: In another but crucial call, British Columbia has been issuing up to 5 invitations to workers in the Veterinary profession. This initiative is therefore in a position to support the province’s general objective of improving the welfare of animals as well as supporting the veterinary business.
